Management Structure:

Members of ESAU are the owners of the Association. The Association has the sub county as the lowest level then the District and National. The sub counties elect seven members to the District Assembly while the District Assembly elects seven members and two substitutes/delegates.

Procedure of leadership in ESAU:

\r\n\r\n

Members of the sub county branches elect the sub county executive. Three people that is (the chairperson, secretary and the treasurer) represent the sub county at the District and they become the District delegates. At the District level members elect amonges themseves seven ofice bares, in addition to the seven executive, two members are elected to become delegates from the Districts to represent the District at the National General Assembly. These delegates elect seven members and two substitutes to formulate the Board of Directors.

The sub county executive reports to the sub county assembly. The sub county assembly reports to the District executive which reports to the District assembly. The District assembly reports to the Board of directors who reports to the National General Assembly. The Secretariat reports to the District Assembly and the Board of Directors.

The National General Assembly (GA):

\r\n\r\n

The GA is the supreme policy making body of ESAU that governs the Association and makes general decisions. The body meets once every three years to elect its Board of Directors, review the constitution, consider any amendments of the constitution, receive progress reports and approves future plans of action. The GA comprises of delegates from the District assemblies where ESAU has groups. Each District branch sends in two delegates to the GA.

The Board of Directors (BOD):

\r\n\r\n

The BOD makes decisions on behalf of the GA and monitors the day-to-day running of ESAU through the secretariat. The BOD meets once every three months. The BOD reports to the GA.

The Secretariat:

\r\n\r\n

The Secretariat is the executive organ of the organization, which manages all programmes, implements decisions of the BOD and takes care of the day-to-day running of the organization. The secretariat reports to the BOD.

ESAU employs 7 full time staff, 2 part time staff and supports 2 volunteers. The staff is headed by a National Director who is a medical social worker and has over 18 year in senior management organisational development and finance. There are 2 senior programme officer who have more than ten years in project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilisation and proposal writing, grass root advocacy, community work and counselling skills.

\r\n\r\n

The Association has one finance officer who is dependable and experienced in multi donor funds management and she is certified public accountant, with ACCA and has practicing experience of more than 5 years. ESAU also employs a Danish Development consultant who is a part time staff of the organisations. The other 2 programmes staff have 3 years experience in community work are graduates and human right activists.
